Alaska really is a wild environment. I've
received several briefings from numerous offices at
Elmendorf AFB while clearing in, regarding the unforgiving
Alaskan environment and wildlife etc etc. Well they were right, a couple weeks ago a couple in Eagle river (yes we live in Eagle River) witnessed a grizzly bear attack a moose calf in their front yard, watch the video with sound and if it doesn't work visit the link:

Another interesting thing about Alaska is that it has one of the most lax gun laws in the US. I always knew it was easy to buy a gun but it is really easy here. I can go to the base exchange anytime of the week, show my military ID and an Alaskan drivers licence and walk out with my gun and ammo minutes later. And I can conceal that weapon without a permit
in case I feel like stopping at
Wal-mart in relative safety (you know how rowdy they can get). You can buy pretty much any weapon you like, including a .50 cal sniper rifle, which I must admit I momentarily considered. Some of the guys from the
Sqn actually have trunks of guns in their garage, yeah 2nd amendment.
It has been a busy couple of days as we prepared for a barbque in our new abode. Seeing how Daddy is going to be away for Nathan's first birthday, we decided to give him a birthday cake. Needless to say it could.JPG)
